Conversation Protocol 2020-02-11 9:45

This is a protocol of a conversation between Bernhard and Patrick Franssen. In a previous conversation Bernhard confronted Patrick with the fact that he has full written account of how Patrick committed sexual misconduct on a young female staff member. Patrick suddenly opened up and confessed that the event took place as described.

In this conversation Bernhard follows up on the topic.

Bernhard: I would like to go ahead and ask some more questions. Last night…

Patrick: Generally what you wrote is correct

Bernhard: I took a long walk at the beach and reflected on our last talk and boiled it down to two questions. I’ll have one more question about Susan (name changed). If you don’t want to answer it that’s fine. And one more question about work.

Patrick: Ok

Bernhard: The question about Susan is actually really simple, but … why? Why did it happen back then? I keep wondering since then.

Patrick: Very simple, because I like her. Very simple. It’s not related to anything else

Bernhard: But back than after the event she explained that she saw you as a father figure, as a replacement for her own father.

Patrick: That’s possible, I believe that. I’m not telling you what she thought, but what I thought. And nothing… very simple, nothing, nothing happened anymore and afterwards I treated her just as good as before.

Bernhard: Well…

Patrick: For example, otherwise I woudn’t have invited her in Paris. With Olivia (name changed) with us. You know, I would never have done that if I thought that she… that the relationship wasn’t good.

Bernhard: Well, apparently this affected her much stronger than it might have seemed on the outside.

Patrick: I believe that, I believe that. I can’t look into her head. But I do believe that. But if you ask me why, then that’s the reason.

Bernhard: Ok

Patrick: No other reason. No other reason. What other reason should there be? I don’t see one.

Bernhard: Well, I mean, that night I was on the phone with her for a long time.

Patrick: Yeah but that is the only reason.

Bernhard: Yeah… Back then when she called me I even defended you whereafter we got into a fight.

Patrick: Yes, but nothing further happened. Nothing further happened. She immediately said “no, stop!”. Immediately.

Bernhard: mhm…

Patrick: And then I was drunk, that probably also played a role. The thing is not just she drank, me too.

Bernhard: Yeah

Patrick: So that probably also played a role otherwise it would probably not have happened. But all of that is… that is… ok… less important. The reason is it happened as it happened. And it’s not like I was entirely unaware of what I was doing. That wasn’t the case.

Bernhard: But now that you…

Patrick: And afterwards I didn’t change anything with her. I liked her just as before. There is no difference. Not for me. The reason why she doesn’t work here anymore is … what’s their name … she also did very little I have to say. But that was… not I did that. That was was was what’s their name Emile and Antonia. That they stopped her. Later. That was not my… not… not at all. But also she wasn’t… she was in Germany and had a boyfriend I believe later I suppose and she was with her boyfriend, right?

Bernhard: Yes, but she could only travbel for so long before she had to go somewhere to edit [all the photos and videos she had taken]. But all of that doesn’t matter.

Patrick: That is going off topic. But that was the only reason. Very simple. Nothing else.

Bernhard: But now in retrospect that you know that…

Patrick: It was not forseeable when I accepted her [to work with The Green Lion]. I didn’t think about that. I thought it’s interesting what she does. I always liked her.

Bernhard: ok

Patrick: Earlier I gave her my camera and everything. You know that. I gave her that because it was a pitty she didn’t have it. That was also not not not an invite or whatever. Not by me, not by her.

At this point Patrick switches to another topic.
